Frequenty Asked Questions

Do you kill the bees?
No, we are not pest control, we are bee keepers.
What do you do with bees?
Give them a good home at one of our bee farms and encourage them to help the farmers with their plants and maybe make a bit of extra honey.
The bees in my house, where did they come from? And why my house?
Honey bee swarms will cover up to two miles when looking for a home. So it could be almost anywhere in that radius. They chose your house for 3 very good reasons, location, location, location.
Are they africanized?
We don't know. The only way you can tell is with a DNA test. You cannot tell if a honey bee is Africanized just by looking at it. Anyone who tells you they are africanized without a DNA test is not speaking factually.
Do you remove Africanized bees?
Everyday. Despite what the news media will tell you, they hype about Africanized bees is just that hype. While there are some small differences in the defensive nature of Africanized bees. It is really hard to tell if someone has upset the hive. So don't upset the hive. No throwing rocks, no poking with sticks, no telling them their queen is ugly.
How can I keep bees from getting into my house?
1) Don't live in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia or any of the other states. As a matter of fact I think Mars may be your best bet. Bees have been here for over 110 million years and are experts at survival.
2) Some basic home maintenance. Go around the perimeter of your house. Look at your sophets. If you have an opening along the edge where the sophet meets the side fascia or eve, that is a pencil erasure wide or larger have that gap filled. Have the corners of the fascia separated then get them fixed. Go along the walls on the outside and check for gaps where the hose bib is, where electrical or water conduits are and seal them. Around electrical outlets make sure there are no cracks or openings. Seal the opening with silicone or concrete do not use spray foam (aka Great Stuff).
Do you charge for your estimates?
No, the survey is free. We will email you a link to the photos we took and the estimate. Sign the estimate and get it back to use and we will schedule the job.
There is an opening where the bees were removed from, do you repair that opening?
Unfortunately no. Florida state law is very clear on this. We are bee keepers and not contractors. You must use a licensed contractor to do the repairs. We will put in a temporary cover on but it is the responsibility of the homeowner to to the repair.
I still see bees buzzing around after the removal, how long will they be there for?
Most likely after a removal you will see some bees for a few days after the removal. They will eventually disperse. If there is a large cluster over 2 inches in diameter we may make a return visit.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are. We are also registered with the Florida Dept of Agriculture. Anyone doing live bee removal must be registered with the Florida Dept of Agriculture. If you need a COI please contact the office.
